Economic growth and employment
have your say

How can our economy continue to grow? How can environmental policies co-exist with economic growth? How can we provide enough work for everyone?

Business reflects the values of the society in which it operates. How can business in Scotland meet the increasing pressure to contribute to the social and environmental elements of sustainable development while remaining competitive in an increasingly global and fast- changing business environment? Do we have a clear view of the values which we expect business in Scotland to observe?

Many things which contribute to sustainable development also bring benefits to business. For example, more efficient use of energy and waste minimisation reduces business costs. What needs to be done to help business pursue more sustainable operations?

Is it clear that sustainable development always brings economic benefit? If not, how should the costs be met? What is the role of the Executive and the rest of the public sector in working with business to create a more sustainable Scotland?
